Leptospirosis (Weils disease) It can be caught by humans through contact with rat urine, most commonly occurring through contaminated fresh water. Rats are also nutritious for causing damage to property, with some repair bills reaching into the thousands! Hantavirus is a life-threatening disease transmitted by rodents. The disease could be spread to humans through contact with mice droppings, saliva or urine, mouse bites and mere contact. Mouse diseases can also be spread indirectly: ticks, fleas and mites that have fed on the infected mouse could then transmit the disease to humans.
